Andrea Ludovic
This solo project focuses on the experimental production of elements using tools of software, concepts of mathematics and concrete music, polyphony and polyrhythm, all around the texture as a voice.
Around 2018 Ludovic started to use a new set of tools including the modern tracker Renoise, Ableton Live, and NI Reaktor.
The sound showcases a more minimal use of elements, still intense sound, but more colorful including hardcore kick designs. The elements are meticulously sculpted and set in a vast range of frequencies to dive into.
For the production of these albums she collaborated with genius photographer Marco Guerrero, designer Angel Márquez, Stylist Ezequiel Montes, and visual artist Ionee Waterhouse. There were all DIY productions.
La siren La ziren
Is a musical and performative project founded in 2019 along with Janis Denis (opera singer, lyricist), in which the artists fuse electronics, lyrical singing and rock among other more specific genres. In 2023 they released their first self-titled album “La Siren La Ziren”, composed of 7 original themes that correspond to a conceptual work on technology, the wild nature and the symbolic.
The production of the record included compositions some of them hand in hand with guitarist Dario Sosa, the recording and mixing art of Oswaldo Rodriguez and mastering by Juan Carlos Almao, all possible with the help of mecenas producer Franklin Baratxarte.
The repertoire of the album has been presented in various art halls and theaters in the city of Caracas and has been listed as one of the best Venezuelan musical productions of 2023 (LaDosis Magazine, Cúsica). The live performance of La Siren La Ziren brings along the rock spirit of guitarist and noise maker Raquel García and is wide enough to encompass the young and adult audience at the same time.
Live sets
The development of an arrangement of machines in which an artist can play electronic music is a very personal art and is conquering more and more spaces of the electronic scene. Andrea started working on hers due to an invitation that changed her life.
Mutek Montreal 2018 showed the variety and diversity of these sets, and she has been mutating with this since then. One of the particular methods she uses to play live is to chop rhythmic phrases, amen breaks or 4 bars of recorded drum samples and map them into the keys of a music MIDI keyboard.
In the performance, this serves as a way to improvise almost drum solos but with the crisp and punch of electronic sound.
